There are but three great falls in the world, all of which curiously seem to fall at the country’s borders. Niagara Falls on the border of the United States and Canada, Victoria Falls forming the divide between Zimbabwe and Zambia, and Iguazu Falls, cascading between the lands of Brazil and Argentina. All are impressive, but with its 275 different cataracts and 3 mile spread, the 266ft high Iguazu Falls is arguably the most breathtaking of the trio.
Formed by the cascading sheets is the fine mist that creates the microclimate of lush rainforest that surrounds the falls. Here, hundreds of colorful birds and thousands of vibrant butterflies congregate, making the abundant wildlife almost as captivating as the falls themselves. Spend your time admiring the surreal sight before you, rafting the rapids downstream, or simply debating with onlookers as to whether the view is better from the Brazilian side or the Argentinean side.
