Honduras's Western Honduras
Copan Ruins
Pass by the squat colonial church presiding over the site’s eastern edge, and flash to a time of horse drawn wagons and narrow cobblestone streets. This is Copan, a place of intriguing Maya history and colorful Honduran culture.
From the first steps laid within city bounds, you know Copan is a place quite unlike any other. At the city gate, enjoy a welcome by a cadre of colorful parrots then venture down the tree-lined path lined in a series of beautifully reconstructed temples. A site equally as large as those seen in Guatemala, Copan is often considered even more beautiful and is not to be missed during a visit to Western Honduras.
