Volcan Baru National Park
Situated 11450ft above sea level, the Volcan Baru National Park is the area’s primary attraction and one visit will prove why. The park protects the upper slopes and summit of Volcan Baru and encompasses massive patches of cloud forest. Wander through the cloud forest and discover a wealth of bird life, including three wattled bell birds, resplendent quetzals and the rare volcano junco.
Hike to the numerous waterfalls that speckle the park, raft the raging rivers, visit the nearby hot springs or venture to the pre-Columbian petroglyphs in the nearby village of Caldera.
