You will find plants adapted to desert climates in the coastal areas, while the highlands receive year-round moisture making it the home of lush vegetation. Additionally, the two seasons in the Galápagos receive precipitation, specifically ten inches of rain per year.

Unlike most regions in the equator, the climate in the Galápagos Islands remains cool. However, the warm and wet season lasts from December through June, while June through December is considered as the colder, dryer season.

Cloudy skies and occasional drizzle in the highlands is expected in August, which is the coolest month of the year. During this time, it is breeding season for many animals such as sea lions and fur seals, marine iguanas, sea bird and shore birds.

Additionally, if you prefer a warmer climate, we suggest traveling during December through May. Although it is typically rainy season during this time, you’ll be captivated by the mostly-sunny skies.
