Today, enjoy a walking tour of Quito. Get in touch with the local culture and history as you admire amazing Spanish-era architecture and churches as we walk down the narrow cobblestone streets of the old town.
Today, you will be transferred to the town of Banos. En-route, enjoy a full day Quilotoa and Indian Market experience.
Stop at a traditional craft market and explore the local Andean culture. Get a glimpse into the daily lives of the indigenous people of the Andes. See some of the many handmade products the locals bring to market to sell and barter. Next, head to the majestic Quilotoa Lagoon, an emerald crater lake surrounded by mountain landscapes. Reach the natural wonder on a moderate hike. Once there hike around the crator and admire the natural beauty this region of Ecaudor has to offer. A boxed lunch will be provided en-route to your hotel near Banos.
This morning, you will be transferred to the starting point of your mountain bike tour, Llanganates National Park. From here you will ride down to the Pastaza River Canyon while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the cloud forest. We will bike through some Andean farms, where they cultivate tomato and passion fruit trees. While descending into the jungle we will have a very cool view of Baños town, which is well known for its spectacular location right on the foothills of the Tungurahua volcano. This volcano is active since 1999 and it is the main attraction of this region. After, you will transfer back to the hotel.
Today, you get to hike to several waterfalls. The first stop will be at the Bride’s Veil waterfall. By taking the Tarabita (cable car) we will get across the Pastaza river, and later we will hike down to the Pailon del Diablo waterfall, the second highest in Ecuador. Afterwards, we will go deeper into the jungle to the Llanganates National Park. The name «llanganates» supposedly comes from «beautiful mountain» in the local native language. In this area the Incas hid their golden treasure 600 years ago. Some explorers have spent many years of their lives looking for it but it has never been found. Some of them have even disappeared in this thick pristine jungle. Here we will take a 3 hours hike through the tropical rainforest and climbing along of several white-water waterfalls. Your naturalist guide will explain the surrounding eco system and wildlife that you will be surrounded by during your trek. Back to your hotel.
This morning enjoy an exhilarating adventure during your White-Water Rafting tour. After a very important safety talk with our rafting guides, we will start our class 3 rafting expedition down the Jatunyacu river. The river is known for its clean water and awesome rapids. We will have a lot of fun playing some games and exploring one of the canyons. At the end of the river we will stop for a fresh picnic lunch, prepared by the expert guides. Thereafter, drive towards the Cotopaxi National Park area.
Journey through the surreal volcanic landscape and grassy highlands in Cotopaxi to begin a hike to the 15,780-foot (4,810-meter) Jorge Rivas Refuge. You’ll also have a chance to admire the park’s glaciers amidst the sky-high environs of Limpiopungo Lagoon at 16,400 feet (5,000 meters). Finish your tour with a thrilling downhill bike ride and lunch before returning to your hotel.
Today, you have the morning at leisure to enjoy one last activity at the hacienda. We have included a late check-out so you can relax before heading to the airport. At a pre-arranged time, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
