CONTACT US ABOUT THIS TRIPYour classic Belizean journey begins with a transfer to San Ignacio.
Discover the Maya culture as you explore the ancient ruins of Xunantunich.
Held within the Belizean rainforest, this site includes Maya plazas, palaces, and temples, as well as a modern museum. The hills were first occupied between 400 and 200 BC, though it was not until 600 AD that Xunantunich was used as a ceremonial site — making the entire settlement some 1,400 years old. Your expert guide will explain the culture and beliefs of the Maya, and you will see the ancient ball court where warriors often lost their heads whether they were victors or losers! From atop the ruins, you can take in a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Delve into the past as you paddle through the underground caverns of Barton Creek Cave.
Travel across rivers, jungle trails, orange orchards, and through the Mennonite community of Barton Creek until you reach the Barton Creek Cave. Hidden within this small community are the remnants of an ancient Mayan civilization, silently waiting to be explored in the cool, dark, watery underground caverns of Barton Creek Cave. The site was a center for ritualistic activities, including human sacrifices, fertility rites, and bloodletting. This ancient wonder can be explored only by canoe. Drift along and marvel at the glittering stalactites and stalagmites, some 50 feet in length. The cave is littered with the eerie remains of human bones, centuries-old clay pots, and tiny remnants of Mayan artifacts. If you dare, take a plunge in the cold underground river for a truly incredible experience.
Float and glide through the jungle on today’s cave tubing and ziplining adventure.
Begin with a one-mile trek through subtropical trails, wade across a shallow portion of the river, and pass through two caves before reaching a stunning lagoon surrounded by steep limestone walls. Float on an inner tube along the cool waters, illuminated by your headlamp. Plunge into darkness and listen to the sounds of the cascading waterfalls and bubbling rapids. Upon exiting the caves, continue floating along the jungle-lined river before returning to the starting point. The adventure continues as ziplining takes you soaring through the subtropical jungle canopy from treetop to treetop, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the rainforest below. A thrilling adventure, there are five runs at heights ranging up to 80 feet. The trip culminates in rappelling down the last tree to the ground for that final adrenaline rush.
Travel to Belize City for a short scenic flight to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
Proceed to your beach hotel and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.
Discover Hol Chan Marine reserve and snorkel among nurse sharks and stingrays at Shark Ray Alley.
In the crystal-clear waters of Ambergris Caye, non-divers can enjoy the beauty of the underwater world. Choose morning or afternoon for a two-stop snorkeling excursion. Hol Chan Marine reserve is located in a beautiful reef channel filled with a variety of tropical fish, sea fans and coral. The second stop is at Shark Ray Alley where you snorkel with nurse sharks and stingrays in just about six feet of water.
A day at leisure.
The day is yours to do as you wish. Explore the town or the sea with complimentary use of bicycles and kayaks. Relax at the spa, private beach or the beachfront pool.
Fly from San Pedro to Belize City and depart Belize.
