Horseback to the Maya Ruins ruins of Xunantunich, picnic along the banks of the river and canoe through the underground caverns of Barton Creek Cave.
You will begin your journey at Hanna Stables, nestled within 400 acres of lush, green farmland. From there, you’ll make your way on horseback to the majestic site Xunantunich, where you’ll explore ancient ruins, including Mayan temples, with your personal guide. Next, you will take in the sights and smells of the tropical rainforest as you picnic along the banks of the Mopan River before you meander back to your resort.
Travel across rivers, jungle trails, orange orchards, and through the Mennonite community of Barton Creek until you reach the Barton Creek Cave. Hidden within this small community are the remnants of an ancient Maya civilization, silently waiting to be explored in the cool, dark, watery underground caverns of Barton Creek Cave.
The site was a center for ritualistic activities, including human sacrifices, fertility rites, and bloodletting. This ancient wonder can be explored only by canoe. Drift along and marvel at the glittering stalactites and stalagmites, some 50 feet in length. The cave is littered with the eerie remains of human bones, centuries-old clay pots, and tiny remnants of Maya artifacts. If you dare, take a plunge in the cold underground river for a truly incredible experience.
Drive into the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve and away from civilization for an intimate experience at one of the most breathtaking sites in western Belize. Led by your adventure specialist, hike down to a waterfall and climb over boulders as you enjoy the best swimming spots and a private picnic.
Depart on a transfer to the small fishing village of Placencia and settle in to your intimate beach resort. Enjoy complimentary use of the resort pools, kayaks, paddle boards, and bicycles.
Soak in the sea breeze while you’re capable and friendly crew raises the sails and supplies you with cold beverages. Once at the island either relax or go for a guided snorkel tour. Enjoy a beach barbecue before raising the sails once more as you head west toward the setting sun over Placencia.
