Day 2: VARA BLANCA

Venture out to the summit of the Poás Volcano

Venture out to the summit of the Poás Volcano, then explore the trails and exhibits of La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

The crystal blue sulfur pools of Poás, one of the four active volcanoes in Costa Rica , will amaze and enthrall you as you view this incredible landscape. Learn about the evolution, history, regional flora and fauna, and the historic eruptions of Poás volcano. After lunch, explore the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. La Paz Waterfall is the most famous waterfall in Costa Rica , but the best waterfalls are above the La Paz waterfall, along a steep canyon accessed by the safe hiking trails making them the most easily accessible waterfalls in Costa Rica. As you walk the trails, your guide will impart information that you might otherwise miss every step of the way. This will be your ultimate Costa Rican experience of flowers, butterflies, orchids, hummingbirds, cloud and rainforest, snakes, frogs, and waterfalls.

Day 3: VARA BLANCA / ARENAL

Travel to the Arenal region

Head to the Arenal region with a volunteer tour experience at a Wildlife Rescue Center en route.

Visit the Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue Center where you can see a large variety of wild animals and assist in the rehabilitation process. Learn about the center’s dedication to the protection of the incredible diversity of life in the Costa Rican ecosystems and the mission to save wild animals and reintroduce them into their natural habitat. The tour includes a guided walk on trails around the site to visit all the animals and find out where they come from. Then, join the staff to assist with all the important tasks needed to help the wild creatures.

Day 4: ARENAL

Enjoy a zipline adventure

Discover a remarkable world hidden in thick rainforest canopy, then get your adrenaline going with a zipline adventure.

Experience Costa Rica’s rich diversity and lush habitat while crossing 15 impressive bridges in a protected tropical rainforest. Some of them suspended over the forest, and others stationary, the bridges allow access to the flora and fauna from different perspectives as you go through the different levels of the forest. You will have great views from the forest´s canopy making it easier to spot birds and animals. Animals that inhabit this type of forest include three species of monkeys, multiple species of birds, serpents, wild boars, frogs, and others.

Soar high in the forest canopy, engaging with the rainforest in a truly unique way. The Eco glide Canopy tour consists of 11 cables, 13 platforms and the option of riding the notoriously fun Tarzan Swing, which sends harnessed riders soaring out into a forest clearing! Enjoy a journey through history, culture, tradition while discovering ancient secrets of chocolate.

With the view of the majestic Arenal Volcano, enjoy the sweetest rainforest experience, discovering the ancient secrets of chocolate: from its discovery and use, in tropical America, to the processing of the product we know and enjoy today. Considered as “a gift of the Gods”, the cacao tree was very important to the ancient culture, it was not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value, in many regions of Mesoamerica, including Costa Rica. In this “hands on” program, you will have the opportunity to learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, from its origin and history, participating in all the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, also the developing of the traditional drink of our ancestors, and of course enjoying a high quality organic chocolate.

Day 6: ARENAL / MANUEL ANTONIO

Travel along the central Pacific coast

Head south to Manuel Antonio stopping along the way for a jungle boat tour on the Tarcoles River.

The Tarcoles River provides shelter to a whole spectrum of exotic animals. Admire the fascinating lifestyle of crocodiles, birds and lizards as you travel by boat down the Tarcoles River, located in the heart of the Costa Rican jungle. The Estuary of Guacalillo and the Tarcoles River offer the opportunity to observe one of the largest populations of American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) in America, also discover the mangrove area with a high percentage biodiversity among which there is a large number of waterfall and one of the most important conservation area of the Scarlet Macaw in the country.

Day 7: MANUEL ANTONIO

Discover the rich biodiversity of the rainforest.

Step off the beaten path to the remote corners of Manuel Antonio National Park, explore the forest at nightfall.

Though the highlights of this park are its 2 white sand beaches, Espadilla Sur and Manuel Antonio, it also protects coastal rainforest, a mangrove swamp, coral formations and 12 islands that serve as seabird sanctuaries. This special hike is designed to show you the more remote corners of Manuel Antonio National Park. We will take you exploring past patches of mature primary forest, hidden beaches, and up to impressive viewpoints, spotting plenty of wildlife en route. Manuel Antonio might be Costa Rica’s most popular National Park but there are still many secrets to discover in this rich ecosystem. Watch sloths and numerous species of monkeys travel through the tree canopy, hunt for nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of monkeys or iguanas resting in the tropical rainforest, and listen to the songs of the various birds as they glide above your group, curiously looking for adventure. If you are lucky, you might spot one of the only 1,000 remaining endangered Mono Titi or squirrel monkeys, who live in only one location in the world – the Manuel Antonio National Park biological corridor.

Later, explore the forest at nightfall while walking the jungle paths through the hotel grounds down to the beach. Along the path, creatures such as frogs, snakes, spiders, anteaters, opossums, and bats may be observed. The opportunity to see, hear and experience the thrill of the nocturnal wildlife on this gentle tour is incredibly rewarding.

Enjoy a perfect family day! The resort offers direct beach access and lots of wildlife on-site for you to enjoy a relaxing day in paradise. We can also arrange for various in-house activities such as tortilla making, bracelet-making classes, planting your own tree, movie nights and more. Surf boards and paddle boards are available, and we can even arrange for private surf lessons!
