Your adventure begins with an early morning drive through the countryside, stopping en route for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Arrive the Pacuare River put-in and prepare for the exciting river-rafting trip past vibrant rainforest scenery to the lodge. The unparalleled location and serenity of the forest is the ideal romantic escape. Your 3-night stay includes daily adventures, a spa treatment, and all exquisite cuisine for all meals. You can take it easy or begin enjoying some of the lodge’s outdoor experiences which can take you deeper into the forest, or to the closest communities. Nature lovers may want to start before breakfast with a daybreak birdwatching tour.
Other options are to visit the nearby Cabécar Indian palapa, for an introduction to the local indigenous culture, or hike to the closest farming community to experience a bit of rural Costa Rican life. Outdoor adventure options include the Canopy Adventure Tour, which takes you gliding between treetop platforms on cables, or Tropical Canyoning, which combines hiking, rock climbing and rappelling. If you prefer the water, you can paddle down a stretch of the Pacuare River in an inflatable duckie. Hikers have several options to choose from: the Cabécar Indian Hike, a more demanding hike to an isolated indigenous home deep in the forest; or the Ancient Trail and Hidden Waterfall Hike, which heads higher into the mountains to a waterfall, and takes most of the day.
After another great breakfast, you will depart by raft for an exhilarating day of whitewater rafting past gorgeous tropical scenery. This stretch of the Pacuare River flows through canyons and past waterfalls and virgin rainforest. Enjoy a deli-style lunch on the riverbank en route. You will have a chance to change into dry clothes and then depart on a drive to the Caribbean coast.
Hike & snorkel the best-known National Park on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast.
Explore the Cahuita National Park. Home to the largest system of coral reefs in Costa Rica, explore them and the abundant marine life they shelter including harmless reef shark and stingray on a scenic boat ride and two snorkeling sessions. Once onshore, enjoy a 1-hour guided hike through Cahuita’s coastal rainforest in search of monkeys, sloths, birds, and the many other critters that call this Caribbean Coast home.

Head to nearby Punta Uva for an excursion that brings together three different ways to soak up the best of Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast. Peddle past the palms on a scenic coastal bike ride.
