Explore the town’s enchanting architecture through streets lined with unleveled Portuguese houses and colorful colonial-era mansions. Take in historical landmarks such as the Porton de Campo – the City Gate, wooden drawbridge, and La Puerta de la Ciudadela. Pass through the Old City to discover the “Real de San Carlos” where you can find the Bulls Square, Hippodrome and the Old Port.
Spend the day immersing yourself in local wine & culinary culture at Narbona Wine Lodge.
Located in the outskirts of Carmelo, Narbona winery produces high-quality wines with the expertise of consultant oenologist Michel Rolland. Finca Narbona vineyards most famously produces Pinot Noir and Tannat, as well as new vineyards of syrah and petit verdot. Take a tour of the winery and enjoy a sampling of delicious wines. In the evening enjoy a culinary immersion with dinner at Posada Campotinto hosted by chef Elsa Manelphe. Sample a variety of local favorite dishes, paired with the best local wines.
Enjoy the day at leisure relaxing at the wine lodge or exploring the region on your own.
Take advantage of activities at the vineyard, such as bike rides through the fields, guided visits to the wine cellar, wine and cheese tasting, picnics, and the experience to be an oenologist for the day!
Experience Uruguay at the atelier of a local artist who has has been recognized with the award of excellence from UNESCO.
Climb up to Alberto’s studio located in downtown Montevideo where you will find his leather sculptures in different stages of the creation process. Learn about the art of working with leather and participate in the creation of an emblematic gaucho sculpture. End your day with a delicious parrilla (barbecue) lunch at Mercado central.
Pedal through the city to visit some of Montevideo’s highlights.
In the Old City bike by Sarandí Matriz Square, Palacio Salvo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Plaza de la Independencia, and Teatro Solis. Continue on to Rambla de Montevideo to admire the coast and the city’s beautiful seaside attractions like, “Parque Rodó”, the Mercosur building, Ramirez Beach, Punta Carretas lighthouse, Pittamiglio Casttle, Trouville, and Pocitos Beach. End your ride arriving at Faro de Punta Carretas, where you will enjoy amazing panoramic views of the city.
Enroute explore Casa Pueblo and take in Uraguay’s breathtaking coast.
Visit one of Uruguay‘s most prominent architectural landmarks, Casapueblo, a massive sprawling estate atop the sea cliffs created by artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. Head inside to explore the museum and art gallery, where you can peek into Vilaró’s workshop, learn about the creation of Casapueblo, and admire the stunning ocean views from the building’s terrace.
Experience Uruguay’s beach culture at the shores of Piriapolis, Mansa, and Brava.
Learn the intricacies of winemaking at Viña Eden.
This location was designed using the force of gravity to contribute to the movements of grapes and wine in three different production stages. Starting at the highest level of the hill the grapes are processed and then moved down into the stone cellar for aging. This location uses the perfect combination of light, temperature, and moisture to produce some of the region’s best wines. Take in the scenery of the vineyard as you sample their wines.
Observe how to use fire in your cooking methods and learn the secrets of Francis Mallmann – Ambassador Chef in Garzón alongside staff with a culinary class offered at Bodega Garzón. Take home local recipes using techniques taught to you by the team at Francis’ school.
Arrive at the coastal village of Valizas.
After a short walk around the town, head out on a marvelous four-hour trek across the amazing shifting sand dunes of Cabo Polonio. Once at the top of Buena Vista Hill, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean before descending to the shore for a relaxing coastal hike to the small fishing village. Climb the lighthouse; watch one of the largest sea lion colonies of South America; and enjoy a delicious seafood lunch overlooking the ocean.
