Day 1: ARRIVE BUENO AIRES

Welcome to Buenos Aires!

On arrival, start your Signature Luxury Journey with a stay in Buenos Aires.

Explore Recoleta on foot and go off the beaten path. You will be introduced to the history, architecture, traditions, and unique features of this historic Buenos Aires neighborhood. Visit Recoleta Cemetery and hear fascinating tales about Evita Perón, the misfortune of Rufina Cambaceres, Tiburcia Dominguez’s miserly husband, and Admiral Brown. Then, stop by Pilar Basilica to admire its stunning architecture.

See Bourdelle’s Monument to Alvear, then continue to the Palais de Glace, where the Argentine tango came of age. Learn about the history of tango before visiting the BA Design Center and Terraces, the National Library, and the National Fine Arts Museum.

Day 2: BUENOS AIRES

Experience a mesmerizing day in Buenos Aires, “The Paris of South America”

The city combines the atmosphere of an old European town with the features of a Latin American capital.

See the Metropolitan Cathedral, Palace of Congress, Plaza de Mayo, and Casa Rosada (Pink House). It was from the balcony here that Eva Perón famously addressed the throngs of impassioned supporters packed into the plaza. Enjoy the magical atmosphere of historic La Boca, the first Buenos Aires port and now a neighborhood with a unique beat, colorful, and overlaid façades, and the artsy Caminito. Go off the beaten track to see the coolest street and graffiti art that provide a visually stunning introduction to the vibrant world of urban art in Buenos Aires and its compelling history. Visit Teatro Colón, one of the most important opera houses in the world, due to its acoustic excellence and beautiful architecture.

Café Tortini makes for a great stop. This quintessential Porteño café, founded in 1858, has remained the meeting place for famous artists and scholars throughout its 154 years.

Day 3: BUENOS AIRES / CARMELO

Head out for an immersive foodie experience in one of Buenos Aires’ most traditional neighborhoods.

San Telmo is characterized by cafes and restaurants, tango parlors, art galleries and antique shops lining its old cobbled streets and is a must-visit for anybody coming to Argentina. Enjoy a culinary journey as you visit enchanting gems of small coffee houses and food parlors that serve the most delicious food. Learn about local cuisine and culture as you wander from one establishment to another sampling local favorites, including fabulous Malbec wine and delicious empanadas. Enjoy a stylish tango experience! Rojo Tango is one of city’s best tango escapes. The national dance, the tango, is perhaps the best expression of that spirit; it is a dance of intimate separation and common rhythm, combining both an elegant reserve and an exuberant passion.

Day 4: BUENOS AIRES / CARMELO

Board a ferry and take a scenic trip across the Rio de la Plata

Arrive in Uruguay and begin your exploration with a stroll through the streets of historic Colonia.

As you walk through the town’s cobblestone streets, you will admire the unleveled Portuguese houses, and the colorful Spanish-style architecture that gives the town its character. Discover small stone streets, perfectly preserved old buildings and houses, the fort and its port, the Spanish and Portuguese mansions, downtown and the Rambla, which borders the Old City, to the “Real de San Carlos,” where you can glimpse the Bulls Square, Hippodrome and the Old Port. Enjoy historical landmarks such as the Porton de Campo – the City Gate, wooden drawbridge, and La Puerta de la Ciudadela.

Day 5: CARMELO

Spend the day immersing yourself in the local wine & culinary culture at your wine lodge

The winery Narbona is in what was originally the Estancia Narbona, founded in 1740 in the outskirts of Carmelo.

Narbona has recently signed an agreement with EnoRolland; the expert advice of the consultant oenologist Michel Rolland was a decisive turning point in the quality of their wines. The varieties grown in the vineyards of Finca Narbona are Pinot Noir and Tannat, and there are new vineyards of syrah and petit verdot. Take a tour of the winery and enjoy a sampling of delicious wines.

Day 6: CARMELO/ MONTEVIDEO

Travel south to enjoy an exploration of “old town” Montevideo

This walking tour starts at the Independence Square where a statue of our national hero “Jose Gervasio Artigas”, guards his mausoleum and where the iconic “Palacio Salvo” is located.

You will be introduced to the history of the city through the “Puerta de la Ciudadela”, the ancient remains of the outer walls of Montevideo, and an original entrance to the citadel. You will visit the Solis Theatre, the charming pedestrian area, the Torres Garcia Museum and the “Puro Verso” library, one of the oldest buildings in the area, where we will make a stop for a coffee or a fresh drink. The tour continues onto the Constitution Square, where you will visit the Cathedral, the Cabildo and then continue walking across the Old City onto the Carnival Museum, where you will discover the Spanish tradition and African roots of the Uruguayan Carnival. Head to Mercado Central where you will learn about the local food scene and enjoy a traditional parrilla (barbecue) lunch.

Day 7: MONTEVIDEO

Visit the atelier of a local artist

Experience Uruguayan art culture through the eyes of a local craftsman.

Climb up to the mystery of Alberto´s studio located in downtown Montevideo where you will find many of his leather sculptures in different steps of the creative process. Learn about the art of working with leather and participate in the creation of an emblematic Gaucho sculpture. Head for a visit to Bouza Winery. Immerse yourself in the wine culture of Uruguay on a wine exploration and tasting. Learn about the terroir in Uruguay and what types of wines grow the best there. Enjoy a sampling of a variety of wines, followed by a delicious outdoor lunch.

Day 8: MONTEVIDEO / JOSE IGNACIO

Venture to the seaside resort town of Jose Ignacio

En-route explore Casa Pueblo and admire Uruguay’s beautiful coast.

Perched atop the sea cliffs like a futuristic fairy-tale castle, the snow-white Casapueblo is a work of art and one of Uruguay’s top architectural landmarks. Visit the masterpiece — and former residence — of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. Head inside to explore the museum and art gallery, where you can peek into Vilaró’s workshop, learn more about the artist’s work and the building of the Casapueblo, and admire his colorful paintings, sculptures, and murals. The view from the terrace, looking out across the ocean, is a highlight.

Head to visit the beautiful beaches of Piriapolis, mansa and brava, and truly understand Uruguay’s famed beach culture.

Day 9: JOSE IGNACIO

Explore the region of Garzon

Pedal your way through “the Uruguayan Tuscany” and explore the region of Garzon.

Enjoy a cycling tour from the sleepy town of Garzon, along local trails and across more than 4,000 hectares of Olive Tree Plantations. You will visit the elaboration boutique plant of Colinas de Garzon where you will learn about the elaboration of extra virgin olive oil and have a sample or two. Continue biking to local vineyards where you get a sample of delicious wines before heading back to Jose Ignacio.

Days 10: JOSE IGNACIO

Day of Leisure

Enjoy a full day at leisure relaxing at the hotel or exploring the area on your own.
