Enjoy a cultural tour around the city and get an overview of all this vibrant Brazilian city has to offer. Considered Brazil’s ‘late bloomer’, what São Paulo lacks in colonial history, it more than makes up for with its modern architecture and emerging art and foodie scene. You will make stops at Pacaembu Stadium, Sé Cathedral, Central Square, Teatro Municipal De Sao Paulo, Estacao da Luz Train station, and Municipal Market of Sao Paulo, where you can see firsthand how the locals live. The tour will allow you to discover the intriguing history and heritage of this beautiful city.
Walk through the historic center, starting at the Ribeirão Fountain and ending at the Palacio dos Leões. Stroll the cobblestone streets alongside your guide, past quant streets, squares, and beautiful historic buildings.
Learn about the origins of the town’s foundation, literary history, including stories of the Maranhão poets and writers. Gain insight on the city’s influence of Dutch, Africans, French, Portuguese and Indians, their legends and folklore. Known as “The City of Tiles and Colonial Houses” with its cobblestone streets, São Luis was awarded with the title of Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Travel to Lençois Maranhenses. Located 168 miles from the capital, the National Park is considered the “Brazilian Sahara” for its 155,000 hectares’ dune desert, which extends itself from the continent towards the sea. Composed of large, white, sweeping dunes, at first glance Lençóis Maranhenses looks like an archetypal desert. Lying just outside the Amazon basin, the region is subject to a regular rain season during the beginning of the year.
Arrive in city of Barreirinhas, where we will take a speedboat ride though the calm waters of Preguicas River, heading to Atins, the most original and enchanting entrance to the Lençóis. During the ride, opportunity to admire the landscape formed by bayous, mangroves, Juçara’s trees (açai), tucunzeiros and populated by herons and kingfishers.
After, you will cross small rivers onboard thrilling wooden boats, drive through mile-long white sand dunes and fresh-water lakes. Visit the Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon) circuit with opportunity of the beautiful sunset in the dunes.
Depart in 4×4 vehicle to “Canto do Atins”. Once arriving, you will walk through the beautiful dunes of the park, stopping for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters. After, enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel to relax.
This afternoon, you will head out for a kite surfing experience. Words cannot describe the incredible sensation of riding a top a wave, while letting the wind guide you. All the beaches in the region offer side-onshore wind conditions, perfect for down winds. Sand banks are in constant movements, creating new flat-water spot’s all the time. It is a kitesurfing paradise. No matter your level of expertise, you will enjoy this unique nature experience.
Head out to Parnaiba, formed by 85 islands in an area of over 1600 sq. miles, it is the only open-sea delta in the Americas. Explore the Parnaiba Delta in private speedboat, crossing through several islands and creeks, and dunes. Perhaps, you can take advantage and go for a refreshing dip in these pristine waters. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Travel to the beautiful beach of Jericoacoara, an ecological paradise located in an area of environmental preservation. This small fishing village located in the state of Ceará, has about 10,000 inhabitants and maintains a rustic feel. The sandy streets and absence of streetlights contrast with the lively nightlife and tourism infrastructure. The long coastline of beaches, dunes, clear freshwater lakes and warm natural pools make a perfect setting for water sports lovers.
Take an exclusive dune buggy ride to a beautiful blue Lagoon. Enjoy the views and excitement as you are driven up and down the sand dunes until reaching the blue green fresh water of the lagoon. Enjoy some time at leisure to explore on your own, or perhaps go for a swim. After, we will make a stop for an optional lunch in one of the bars and restaurants on the shore of the lagoons with classic Brazilian scenes of hammocks and tables in the shallow parts of the water.
This morning will be at your leisure to relax at your hotel or explore the area on your own.
Later this afternoon, depart your hotel in a 4×4 vehicle for a unique experience on the dunes. Once you arrive at a designated spot, you will enjoy a picnic filled with local favorites and wait for the beautiful sunset. Witness the enchantment as the sun goes down over the captivating landscape.
