Day 1: ARRIVE RIO DE JANEIRO

Welcome to Brazil!

Your signature luxury journey begins with a stay in beautiful Rio de Janeiro.

Take in the panoramic views during your cable car ride to Sugarloaf Mountain. Sugar Loaf Mountain rises up from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf. Take a two-step cable ride to enjoy the beautiful views of the city. The first cable car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 705 feet above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands. The second cable car takes you to the top, at 1,300 feet and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city, the Southern beaches, Corcovado, and Niteroi Bridge lie in front of you.

Day 2: RIO DE JANEIRO

Soak up the atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro during a full day exploration, including a visit to Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer statue.

Situated atop a mountain, at a height of 2,329 feet above sea level, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the world’s best-known and most-visited monuments and now considered one of the seven wonders of the world. Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you arrive at the foot of the hill from where you will embark on a small train. Upon reaching the top, experience a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City!”

The charming district of Santa Teresa is one of the most original of the city due to its unique hillside geography, history, and the alternative urban lifestyle it offers.  This picturesque neighborhood that began as the site of a Carmelite convent (still here) in the 18th Century is home today to some of Brazil’s most vibrant artists – many of whom open their home studios to the public. Rio’s elegance and colorful artistic side are expressed in Santa Teresa’s lush flowers; large, elegant old houses; winding streets and breathtaking views.

In downtown, you will have the opportunity to see the influence from the French architecture among these: Banco do Brasil Cultural Center and Casa Franca-Brasil (France-Brasil Foundation). The Marechal Floriano Square, also known as Cinelandia, concentrates the best of late 18th century French-style architecture in Rio de Janeiro: the Municipal Theatre, a scaled-down copy of the Paris Opera; the Fine Arts Museum; the National Library.

Lunch will be in one of the top Brazilian Churrascarias in town.

Day 3: RIO DE JANEIRO

Pedal your way through historic neighborhoods and beautiful beaches.

Your biking tour will take you from Copacabana to the shores of the Bay of Guanabara and to Lapa and Rio’s historical center. Bike through the lively backstreets of iconic neighborhood Copacabana heading to Botafogo.  There you will pass by Rio’s “celebrity” cemetery, São João Batista, resting place of several Brazilian presidents, writers, singers, actors, and also renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

From there you will pedal to the Bay of Guanabara, along the beach of Flamengo, location of the first European settlement after the discovery of Rio de Janeiro.  After Flamengo, the route continues to the historical center of the city, with stops at Cinelândia and Lapa, well known for its nightlife and the Steps of Selarón, 250 steps covered in more than 2000 tiles from different countries. On the way back you cycle along the paths winding through Flamengo Park, designed by famous Brazilian landscaper Burle Marx. The last stretch of the tour will pass along Copacabana beach.

Tonight, head out for a night on the town at the Rio Scenarium. Known worldwide, Rio Scenarium owes its success to great live Brazilian music and one of the most unusual and attractive ambiences in Rio de Janeiro. Featuring great Brazilian music – samba, forró, and gafieira – and vintage décor with over 10,000 antiques, this spacious venue has three floors.
