CONTACT US ABOUT THIS TRIPYour romance journey begins with a stay in beautiful Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil and its cuisine are a wild and sometimes baffling stew of influences and cultures. Start the day with a visit to the street market where you have good opportunities to see and experience the day by day of the locals and get to sample some local favorite snacks and fruits. Our walk dives right into that mix by taking you through the vibrant heart of Rio’s two most historically and architecturally significant neighborhoods: downtown’s Centro and Porto areas. In downtown, you will have the opportunity to see the influence from the French architecture. With Rio’s history and modern rise as a backdrop, our walk works its way through the traditional eateries and bars of this district, catching some little-known cultural treasures along the way. You can sample the culinary offerings of the city’s largest open-air market, which Jewish, Syrian, and now Chinese merchants have all called home. Stop at iconic botequims – lively, old-fashioned watering holes where locals take their lunch – for classic Rio bar food and a taste of cachaça, the sugar cane spirit that is Brazil’s national drink.
Continue to Corcovado Mountain. Situated atop this mountain, at a height of 2,329 feet above sea level, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the world’s best-known and most-visited monuments and now a new modern seven wonder of the world. Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you arrive at the foot of the hill from where you will embark on a small train. Upon reaching the top, experience a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City!”
You will have the chance to feel and observe how the cariocas enjoy their beaches; running playing soccer and cycling along the seashore. The bike ride begins at “Parque dos Patins”, then cycle around the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon using the vast bicycle lanes available throughout the South zone of Rio. We will make several stops on the way, allowing us to take pictures of the amazing landscape, where we can also get a snapshot of Christ the Redeemer statue. We will then go to the Leblon Belvedere, and stop for a drink, before heading to Ipanema by the beach until reaching “Arpoador” rock. From Arpoador, we will continue to Leme, crossing the famous beach of Copacabana.
Late this afternoon, you will head over to Sugar Loaf to experience the sunset from the top of the mountain.
Sugar Loaf is an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising from small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf. The tour at Sugar Loaf Mountain is done in 2 steps by glass cable cars. The 1st cable car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 710 feet above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands. You continue in a 2nd cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, which rises 1,300 feet above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city. It is here where you will watch the sunset paint the sky and the city with a gorgeous glow.
Enjoy a tour of the falls from the Brazil side, which takes in the best panoramic view to the falls. A trail winds towards the falls from the area in front of the Das Cataratas Hotel, populated by Contis, long-tailed raccoon-like creatures with a well-developed sense of the feeding habits of tourists. At its end, an elevator provides speedy access to a viewing platform at the foot of the falls. The focal point of the falls, best seen from above, is the Devil’s Throat, a horseshoe-shaped gully in mid-stream, over which seems to pour most of the Iguassu River at the phenomenal rate of 13,000 cubic meters a second.
Your comprehensive tour of Iguassu Falls from the Argentina side will allow you to appreciate the falls’ main attractions such as the Upper and Lower Circuit trails, the Great Adventure Boat trip and the Devil’s Throat.
Great Adventure combines in a single trip the very essence of Iguassu National Park: the jungle and the waterfalls. Take a boat and start your ride to the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kms, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful fun rapids. Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second largest in dimension and the biggest any boat may face. At the end of the trip, you shall descend from the boat on the dock located in front of the San Martín Island, where visitors may continue enjoying the landscape joining the runways system of the Lower Circuit, which consists of a series of catwalks strategically placed for visitors to get several views of the falls and to get close to the cascades and charming spots of the forest. The Upper Circuit trail offers magnificent panoramic view of the waterfalls and access to the Iguazu River delta, made up of luxuriant vegetation islands. The highlight is the Devil’s Throat, a breathtaking, horseshoe-shaped gorge that is 262-feet high and 492 feet wide and falls into the river with a deafening roar. Sun and water vapor often create rainbows over the falls, crowning this beautiful landscape.
Ponta dos Ganchos Exclusive Resort is a reference in luxury hospitality in Brazil and stands out for excellence in services and sophistication in details. Located on a private peninsula in the city of Governador Celso Ramos, 31 miles from Florianópolis, Ponta dos Ganchos Exclusive Resort is surrounded by a fishing village and is immersed in an exuberant nature. A scenario designed in a special way. A peninsula of cutouts that form coves where nature has acted capriciously, with an atmosphere of romance provided by the most authentic tranquility and privacy.
