Your romance journey begins with a stay in beautiful Rio de Janeiro.
Situated atop a mountain, at a height of 2,329 feet above sea level, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the world’s best-known and most-visited monuments and now one of the seven wonders of the world. Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you arrive at the foot of the hill from where you will embark on a small train. Upon reaching the top, experience a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City!”
The charming district of Santa Teresa is one of the most original of the city due to its unique hillside geography, history, and the alternative urban lifestyle it offers. This picturesque neighborhood that began as the site of a Carmelite convent (still here) in the 18th Century is home today to some of Brazil‘s most vibrant artists – many of whom open their home studios to the public. Rio’s elegance and colorful artistic side are expressed in Santa Teresa’s lush flowers; large, elegant old houses; winding streets and breathtaking views.
Enjoy an overview of old Rio with stops at the cathedral, Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, and the Casa Franca-Brasil, the France-Brasil Foundation and the Marechal Floriano Square, also known as Cinelandia. This area concentrates the best of late 18th century French-style architecture in Rio de Janeiro. The Municipal Theatre, a scaled-down copy of the Paris Opera, the Fine Arts Museum, and the National Library will also be stops during your tour. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local Churrascarias.
Head to one of the local beaches to spend part of your day paddle boarding and enjoying a refreshing dip in the ocean. Experience the waves of Barra da Tijuca and Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro! Paddle out with your expert guide, enjoy a fun aquatic activity, and take in the panoramic views from the bay.
Later this afternoon, you will head over to Sugar Loaf to experience the sunset from the top of the mountain.
Sugar Loaf is an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf. The tour at Sugar Loaf Mountain is done in two stops by glass cable cars. The first cable car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 710 feet above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands. You continue in a second cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, which rises 1,300 feet above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city. It is here where you will watch the sunset paint the sky and the city with a gorgeous glow.
Enjoy the laid-back charm of this quaint, former fishing village, located on the stunning Bahian coast. Time here is all about enjoying some of Brazil’s extraordinary beaches, local cuisine, and Brazilian charm.
Join your guide for an exciting bike ride to Itaquena Beach, located south of Trancoso. After crossing dirt roads and lots of forest, you will reach Itaquena Farm, a buffalo breeding area. It is a huge area, very rich in wild vegetation and the perfect place for cycling.
Explore the area by bike for a couple of hours and discover the wonderful scenery of Buffalo Valley. Reaching the highest point of the cliffs, you will be able to observe not only the immense valley, but also the beautiful string of beaches sheltered by the region. You’ll then head on trails through the woods, which will lead you to the beautiful beach of Itaquena. After stopping for a reinvigorating swim, you will be ready to return to Trancoso village.
