Start your Inca and Amazon family adventure with an arrival in Lima.
Fly to Puerto Maldonado, proceed to Tambopata National Reserve to start your three-nights all-inclusive Amazon rainforest adventure.
The Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica is an all-inclusive rainforest adventure program and includes accommodations, all meals, beverages, ground transfers, and quarter-, half-, and full-day scheduled guided excursions.
Your journey will take you to the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve, where you will experience magnificent beauty in the sounds, scents, colors, and solitude of the rainforest. You will find yourself surrounded by a vast environment, connecting with nature in an entirely new way.
Fly to Cusco and proceed to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Hike at the Pisac Ruins and visit the Pisac Indian Market.
The Pisac ruins is one of the most important and well-preserved sites in the Sacred Valley. Climb to the top to take in the spectacular views of the terraced countryside. Then head down to explore the quaint village of Pisac and its artisan Indian market, where you will find extraordinarily local goods, including fine jewelry, ceramics, and textile craftwork. Some of the most important ceramic pieces you will find are the ceremonial goblets called “Q’eros,” plates, necklaces, and replicas of pre-Hispanic pottery.
Huilloc is part of the network of weaving communities in the region of Cusco who continue the same inherited rich traditions of textiles, land cultivation, and Andean culture preservation, which were passed down by previous generations.
Once you arrive at the village a local interpreter will welcome you to the house of the owner of the Chakra, who will invite you to a muña infusion. You will symbolically be an integral part of the community, and as a community member, you will be dressed in typical clothes (ponchos for men and boys, blankets for women and girls) and use traditional tools. Males will learn about land cultivation and preservation, and the women will learn cooking techniques using local organic products, ending in a spiritual ritual with local music and dance.
Walk with the llamas before traveling to Machu Picchu aboard the Vistadome Train.
You will become familiar with the llama project’s mission, which works to recover traditional uses and breeding of carrier llamas as a tool for sustainable rural development and conservation of the Andean Mountains ecosystems.
During your visit you will learn to pack the llamas, and head out on a 40-minute adventure as you herd these gentle creatures through a zig zag trail until reaching a designated spot, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch before returning back to basecamp.
Walk in the footsteps of the Incas during a visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu hike.
Begin with an exhilarating hike up Huayna Picchu, which has an ascent of just over 1,000 feet. Once at the top, the views of the Citadel and surrounding landscape are extraordinary and well worth the climbing effort. From the Huayna Picchu summit, the scale and ingenuity of Machu Picchu and its various structures and terraces is fully revealed.
Explore Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas” known as the holy grail for lovers of Incan monuments, and the most famous archaeological site in all South America. You will be amazed and feel inspired as you walk around the citadel’s agricultural terraces, royal houses, and temples. Enjoy a second entrance to the citadel, giving you additional time to explore on your own.
Travel to Cusco aboard the Belmond Hiram Bingham Train.
Sacsayhuamán, which is perched on a hill on the northern outskirts of Cusco.
In addition to a wonderful view over Cusco, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sacsayhuamán boasts massive stones – measuring up to 13-feet tall – placed tightly together, creating a fortress-like structure.
Cusco’s historical center boasts many spectacular sites, including the Temple of the Sun at Koricancha, and Convent of Santo Domingo, who’s stones were once covered with gold!. The main square is where you will find the beautiful Plaza de Armas and Cusco Cathedral. Included in your visit, a cultural Andean Instrument Workshop with a local musician.
Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you will connect with your departure flight from Peru.
