Start your Signature Amazon and Machu Picchu luxury journey with a stay in Lima.
Peru’s capital is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and holds a large architectural complex with places such as the historic San Martín Square, Plaza de Armas, Casa Aliaga, the Cathedral and the Larco Museum, with its collection of pottery, gold and silver works, mummies, and ceramics from the Chimu, Mohica and other pre-Inca civilizations.
Explore the colorful streets and art scene of Barranco, Lima’s most bohemian district. The lively coastal neighborhood first became popular towards the end of the 19th Century, drawing an influx of poets, writers, and artists. Visit the Plaza San Francisco, home to the 19th century Iglesia San Francisco, encircled by boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. The neighborhood’s arts scene is still thriving, with over a dozen art galleries dotted around the area, including the Museo Pedro de Osna and the Mario Testino museum, an abundance of street art, and regular street fairs and folk music festivals.
Fly to Cusco and proceed to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to start your Explora Valle Sagrado. A three night all-inclusive culture and adventure program.
Explora Lodge all-inclusive culture and adventure program includes accommodation, all meals, beverages, ground transfers, and half- and full-day scheduled guided excursions.
Venture through through the architectural magnificence of the Incas in Machu Picchu, isolated villages, archaeological sites such as Ollantaytambo, Moray, Chinchero and Pisac, to Andean pampas and mountains or Apus, considered by locals as guardians of people and nature.
Explore the fortress town of Ollantaytambo before traveling to Machu Picchu aboard the Sacred Valley Train.
Ollantaytambo is where you will find the best surviving example of Inca town planning. Many of the building foundations in old town Ollantaytambo were built by the Incans, and most of the Incan canchas, or blocks, are still intact. The Fortress was first a place of worship, as well as a location for studying astronomy. It was here that Manco Inca defeated the Spanish in 1538 before fleeing to the mountains of Vilcabamba.
The 16 massive terraces spread before you are a testimony to the magnificent Inca masonry. Climb the steep stone steps up to the imposing fortress at the top of the mountain – around 260 steps! From there, the view down the valley is superb and you can admire the huge monoliths that form the Temple of the Sun.
Enjoy included immersive experiences at your hotel and surrounding cloud forest that is home to 372 native orchid species, more than 200 kinds of birds, and 111 species of butterfly.
Walk in the footsteps of the Incas during a visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu hike.
Begin with an exhilarating hike up Huayna Picchu, which has an ascent of just over 1,000 feet. Once at the top, the views of the Citadel and surrounding landscape are extraordinary and well worth the climbing effort.
From the Huayna Picchu summit, the scale and ingenuity of Machu Picchu and its various structures and terraces is fully revealed.
Explore Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas” known as the holy grail for lovers of Inca monuments, and the most famous archaeological site in all South America.
You will be amazed and feel inspired as you walk around the citadel’s agricultural terraces, royal houses, and temples. Enjoy a second entrance to the citadel, giving you additional time to explore on your own.
Travel to Cusco aboard the Belmond Hiram Bingham Train.
Discover the stunning colonial architecture and archaeology of Cusco.
Inside Cusco’s historical center, be amazed by the historical sites and structures, including Koricancha, also known as the “Temple of the Sun, and the Convent of Santo Domingo, whose stones were once covered with gold! The main square is where you will find the beautiful Plaza de Armas and Cusco Cathedral.
Sacsayhuamán is perched on a hill on the northern outskirts of Cusco. In addition to a wonderful view over Cusco, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sacsayhuamán boasts massive stones – measuring up to 13 feet tall – placed tightly together, creating a fortress-like structure.
Fly to Iquitos and explore the Amazon with the Delfin III, where breathtaking sceneries, luxurious forests, and natural life are at their finest. All of these endless expanses of the river come together for an amazing experience.
