Cooking Experience

Gain insight into the culinary traditions of Chile during a market visit and cooking experience.

Enjoy a local culinary immersion. Start the day with a visit to some of Santiago’s traditional food markets such as La Vega and Mercado Central. Since “The Colonial Period”, farmers have met in La Vega’s surroundings to sell their fruit and vegetables. A wide variety of products are sold in its surrounding areas, mainly fresh fruit, and vegetables from the Chilean Central Valley. Mercado Central was declared the fifth best food market in the world by National Geographic. Under a wrought-iron, art nouveau canopy dating back from 1872, this animated fish market groans with an extraordinary display of sea creatures, from barnacles to giant squid, many unlabeled, untranslatable, or unknown outside Chile.

Head to a home in Providencia where you, alongside local chefs, will cook and enjoy delicious Chilean cuisine. Prepare an appetizer, a pisco sour, a main course, a salad, a dessert, and enjoy wine tasting.

Located at the most southern part of the American continent, the Torres del Paine National Park lies in Patagonia. This area is known for its rivers, lakes, mountains, and glaciers that are worth exploring. The Torres del Paine National Park is the highlight of Chile’s Southern Patagonia region.

The park extends over 242,242 hectares and has been the result of successive geological and glacier processes. The geological phenomena created the mountainous formations, such as the Paine Towers (Torres del Paine), a group of pillars composed of magma and granite, whose peaks reach up to 3,000 meters in height and the Paine Horns, that rise up over 2,000 meters. The landscape was forcefully molded by the last glaciers and has been continually modified by the flow of water. Its largest glaciers are the Grey, the Tyndall, and the Dickson, all hanging from the Southern Patagonian Ice Fields. For its beauty and biodiversity, the park was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978.
