CONTACT US ABOUT THIS TRIPOn arrival, connect to your flight south to Puerto Montt, in Chile’s Lake Region. Begin your Chilean adventure with a stay in Puerto Varas.
Travel from Puerto Varas “The City of the Roses” heading towards Osorno Volcano, driving along the shore of Llanquihue Lake. Enjoy the amazing landscape with the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. Ascend to 4,300 feet above sea level and from one of the viewpoints, admire the natural beauty of the region and appreciate the unique view to the summit of the volcano with glaciers of eternal snow.
Continue to Petrohue at Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. Take a leisurely hike through an evergreen forest, passing the beautiful turquoise color of Petrohué River. Walk as you admire the vibrant colors of the flora and fauna before reaching the highlight of the trek and one of the most beautiful places in the country: the Petrohué River Falls. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lakeshore.
Taking the scenic northern route, via Llanquihue National Reserve to Cochamo. Enroute enjoy a white water raging experience on the Petrohue River. This area of Chile retains a more rugged feel, but it’s also the most beautiful in the country. As you paddle down river, take in the amazing views of the volcanoes and surrounding area, and get ready for the Class III and IV rapids that await!
You can choose from several activities offered at the lodge including: horseback riding, trekking the granite walls of Cochamo, trekking the trails in Tagua Tagua National Park, fishing, biking, and kayaking. Or you can choose to soak in the hot springs at nearby Termas del Sol.
Travel to Hornopiren where you will board a ferry and navigate towards Comau Fjord and on to Caleta Gonzalo. The scenic trip is approximately 6.5 hours. Upon arrival, get settled into your cabana surrounded by Pumalin National Park.
The 12 different trails vary from leisurely treks of three miles to full day treks of up to nine miles if you combine some of the circuits. Pumalin is one of the most scenic and remote national parks in South America. With more than 325,000 hectares of forest, the park has a wide variety of activities outside of just trekking, travelers can take in wildlife explorations, and kayaking adventures to explore the fjords Raid and Renihue.
The scenic drive on Carretera Austral is approximately 4.5 hours. Stop along the way to admire the natural beauty of this region, before continuing to your lodge and spa.
Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa is a place from which you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities: explore the lush temperate rainforest: travel 1,240 kilometers of the Carretera Austral; discover the Queulat National Park and its Hanging Snowdrift; navigate between islands and Patagonian fjords; and enjoy the thermal waters. You can also relax with treatments and massages at the SPA, and delight in the delicate and fresh gastronomy along with a fine selection of Chilean wines.
Head out to explore and paddle your way through mystical and ancient carvings that are displayed on the sides of mountains, including mythological serpents. The same ones that today invite you to explore by kayak. A navigation of up to two hours is carried out through the calm waters of the Puyuhuapi Fjord. While touring the island and islets, you’ll observe a great variety of sea birds such as herons, black-necked swans, wandering albatrosses, taguas, ketters, penguins and other wildlife.
In the northern sector of the Queulat National Park, there is a beautiful six-kilometer trail that leads you to a climb through a native forest, which accesses the last stretch to Los Pumas lagoon.
The trail develops through a stepped path, combining beautiful views of Lake Risopatrón and the Valdivian jungle, giving way to the so-called high-altitude transition forest. The route crosses in its highest sector – 1060 meters – a wide plateau with spectacular panoramic views of the mountain range that shelters the narrow snowdrift.
With a basin of approximately 70 hectares and a maximum extension of almost two km, the lagoon houses clean, well-oxygenated waters, the source of life for a diversity of aquatic species.
Take in the beauty of the region with a scenic drive to Coyhaique. The drive is approximately 3.5 hours. Upon arrival, get settled in and get ready to continue your adventure.
This excursion ventures deep into Chilean Patagonia to the small town of Puerto Río Tranquilo, which sits on the shores of General Carrera Lake. It’s a scenic drive packed with stunning landscapes that passes through Cerro Castillo National Park and its thick Nothofagus forest; the turquoise Chiguay Lagoon surrounded with lenga trees’ and along the Río Murta, which features basaltic lava flows on its glacial valley floor that date back hundreds of thousands of years.
Puerto Río Tranquilo serves mostly as a base for boat tours to the Capillas de Mármol, a network of marble pillars near the shores of General Carrera. The sleek lines of the deep white crevices at the base of these giant pillars are the result of thousands of years of erosion. When contrasted with the blue and turquoise waters of the lake, these crevices shine brightly iridescent, lending an otherworldly quality to an already stunning geological formation. A boxed lunch will be provided during your tour.
Welcome to one of the most beautiful spots in South America. Cerro Castillo peak has an altitude of just under 9,000 feet, and is considered one of the more classic trekking trails of the region. This trek is suitable for intermediate-level mountaineers because you will hike up to 3,000 feet. The trek will take about eight hours. During this full-day trek, you will not believe the incredible natural landscapes and views. You will admire the Aysen and Ibanez Rivers, separated by the famous Southern Road or Carretera Austral.
The amazing glaciers on the southern slopes of Cerro Castillo are another spectacle you will enjoy during this trek. Once reaching the ascension point, you will have plenty of time to catch your breath and take in the views.
Fly to Santiago, proceed with your departure flight from Chile.
