Day 1: ARRIVE BUENOS AIRES

Welcome to Argentina!

Your family journey begins with a stay in Buenos Aires.

Explore Recoleta on foot and go off the beaten path. You will be introduced to the history, architecture, traditions, and unique features of this historic Buenos Aires neighborhood. Visit Recoleta Cemetery and hear fascinating tales about Evita Perón, the misfortune of Rufina Cambaceres, Tiburcia Dominquez’s miserly husband, and Admiral Brown. Stop by Pilar Basilica to admire its stunning architecture, then learn about the history of Recoleta Cemetery itself at the Recoleta Cultural Center and Old Monastery. Visit El Ateneo which is as splendid as its name and exudes Buenos Aires’s nostalgic elegance. See Bourdelle’s Monument to Alvear, then continue to the Palais de Glace, where the Argentine tango came of age. Learn about the history of tango before visiting the BA Design Center and Terraces, the National Library, and the National Fine Arts Museum. Enjoy a refreshing and delicious helado at a local favorite, Heledaria Buffala.

Day 2: BUENOS AIRES

Head out for a fun day exploring Buenos Aires by bike, and visit Zanjon de Granados

Spend the morning on this culturally packed experience on two wheels, as you pedal through the city’s turbulent history, rich culture, dramatic architecture, magnificent street art, and along its peaceful coastline.  Stop at Parque Lezama, La Bombonera, and head to La Boca, known for its colorful architecture and its artsy vibe. Caminito is the main street and provides a great cultural expression. Then head to the Barrio de Avellaneda and cross the oldest and most famous ferry bridge. The tour will then continue to the newest neighborhood in the city, Puerto Madero, and on to Casa Rosada.

After a stop for lunch on your own, visit Zanjon de Granado, a fascinating underground trip into the origins of the city. The street it is on was once a small river—the zanjón, or gorge, of the property’s name—where the first, unsuccessful attempt to found Buenos Aires took place in 1536. Learn the old stories of Doña María and the sunken bed, Anacleto, wandering under the city and many more, that sound unbelievable but happen to be true.

Day 3: BUENOS AIRES / IGUAZU FALLS

Fly to Iguazu Falls, proceed to the national park for an exploration of the Argentine Falls

The Lower Circuit (5,577 feet) descends to the river via many staircases and passes lower and closer to more falls including: San Martin, Bossetti, and Saltos Dos Hermanas. The lush vegetation, the sounds and smells of the jungle, the multicolored birds and butterflies give a taste of this extraordinary natural monument. Devil’s Throat, where another footbridge (0.62 miles) leads to the highlight of the show: The Devil’s Throat. A breathtaking horseshoe-shaped gorge, which is 262 feet high and 492 feet wide, and falls into the river with a deafening roar. Sun and water vapor often create rainbows over the falls, crowning this beautiful landscape.

Day 4: IGUAZU FALLS

Discover the breathtaking Brazilian Falls

The Bird Park on the Brazil side of Iguassu Falls boasts an impressive array of wildlife. It offers you the unique opportunity to step into several 8-foot-tall aviaries for an up-close look at their tropical inhabitants!

Take in the best panoramic view of the falls during a walking tour of the falls from the Brazil side. The walkways on this side of the national park are short but impactful, giving the sensation that one is walking on the edge of the waterfalls themselves, looking over the railings into the flowing depths. Feel the raw and natural power while standing on the platforms and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Next is the Macuco Boat Safari experience. Board open jeep-towed wagons that allow for an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna. Orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenarian trees, and even wild animals that occasionally cross the trail can be spotted. An exhilarating motorboat awaits to take you up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids at a speed that allows for scenic viewing. Rainbows, blue sky, mist, and water in abundance, punctuate the spectacle whose high point is The Three Musketeers.
