Day 1: ARRIVE BUENOS AIRES

Welcome to Argentina!

Your Patagonia Signature Luxury Journey begins in Buenos Aires.

Enjoy the local cuisine while getting acquainted with the city this afternoon. Parrillas are Argentine restaurants offering the most traditional cuisine. Most visitors to Buenos Aires only dine at the most touristy parrillas published in guidebooks, and sadly miss out on some of the city’s most delicious gems.

To experience and taste authentic Porteño flavors, join us on our Parrilla Tour, to discover hole-in-the wall restaurants where the locals go to eat. Learn about Argentina’s culture and cuisine, and meet others during this relaxed and social tour.

  • Accommodations: Faena Hotel

Day 2: BUENOS AIRES

Pedal through traditional and historic neighborhoods as you discover the local culture and art scene

Head off the beaten track on a unique biking tour that takes you pedaling through the hidden southern neighborhoods of Buenos Aires to find the city’s most impressive street art.

Far more than strictly urban art, this tour also examines the cutting-edge design district, vibrant neighborhoods and contextualizing it all with historical and cultural background. Riding through La Boca will get you familiar with different graffiti styles, and witness examples of elaborate urban art along the way by artist collectives such as Red Sudakas and Triangulo Dorado.

Back on our bikes, we venture towards Barracas, where we can marvel at the elaborate mosaic walls in Pasaje Lanin, and later let our eyes wander along the mural depicting the meeting of Styles Street Art Convention, representing several collaborations between artists. Admire works by other artists, including Pol Corona, Mart, Pum, Martin Ron, and many more.

Later, enjoy a stylish tango experience. Rojo Tango is one of Buenos Aires’ best tango escapes. For all its diversity, the elusive spirit of Argentina as a country is present everywhere in Buenos Aires.

The national dance, the tango, is perhaps the best expression of that spirit — practiced in dance halls, parks, open plazas, and ballrooms. It is a dance of intimate separation and common rhythm, combining both an elegant reserve and an exuberant passion. The Rojo Tango show promises passion, madness and glamour expressed through the beauty and history of tango.

Travel to the southern most city!

Day 4: USHUAIA

Head out on an exploration of Tierra del Fuego on a trekking and canoeing adventure

Arrive to Bahia Ensenada and appreciate gorgeous views of the Beagle Channel before setting out on your leisurely hike on one of two local trails.

Trek on Pampa Alta or Senda Costera, depending on your guide’s recommendation, and the conditions that day. The four-mile Senda Costera winds along the coast for approximately three hours, while Pampa Alta is a three-mile path that offers bird watching, beautiful alpine views and takes about two hours. Learn about the nature, geography, and wildlife from your guide as you walk through this diverse area.

After a picnic lunch, prepare for a scenic canoe ride in the Lapataia River. A leisurely paddle down the river will bring you to the remote Lapataia Bay and the Beagle Channel, which both host abundant bird life such as geese, ducks, and plovers. Finish your adventure here, amid the “end of the world” views in this pristine bay surrounded with towering mountains and lush forest.

Day 5: USHUAIA

Venture out on an exhilarating 4x4 ride in the heart of Tierra del Fuego island

The Escondido Lake, which means “hidden,” is located at the foot of the Garibaldi mountain pass. In order to arrive there, you have to travel 37 miles to the north of Ushuaia, passing the main winter sports centers.

The first 31 miles along the National Route Nº 3, until Garibaldi Pass, are paved. The remaining miles, until Hostería Petrel, at the head of the lake, are not paved. From this point onwards, you can plan some hiking or fly-fishing excursions.

To get to Fagnano Lake, 62 miles north of Ushuaia, you must continue along National Route 3, passing by the Río Olivia valley and the sawmills area, to its easternmost tip where Hosteria Kaikén is located.

Lake Fagnano is one of the largest in the world and has a singular feature: it occupies an active tectonic depression which separates the South American and Scotia Plates. Therefore, along the central part of the lake there is a geological fault: the Magellan Fault. The woods in the surrounding mountains are primary forests. This means that they have not been exploited by men.

The explorations at El Chaltén are as varied as the surroundings we are about to visit. The area’s geography has towering mountains and different landscapes ready to be discovered through treks, overland trips, ice hikes, and even rock climbing, depending on the preferences and skills of each traveler.

The Los Glaciares National Park, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, will be one of the places to be explored. Other attractions to be discovered are the Southern Patagonia Mountain Range, Mount Fitz Roy, the towering heights of the area, and the surroundings of the Los Huemules Natural Reserve, in addition to the Patagonia forest and its rich wildlife.

Spend about three hours exploring the glacier’s blue lagoons, deep crevasses, and magical ice caves where everything turns blue. Enjoy a boxed lunch before boarding the vessel back the Bajo del Las Sombras pier.
